Ecological Construction

Coastal shoreline is under constant attack by erosive forces, from tides and wave activity to harsh storms, including hurricanes. Preserving it requires careful maintenance and engineering, along with an understanding of how to work in delicate habitats during changing tidal conditions.

Angler Environmental’s team has a vast understanding of the physical components of aquatic habitats and the effects of erosion. We know how to stabilize shoreline, focusing on points where our structures tie in with the existing grade, and ensuring that the structures are built and anchored for integrity in the roughest conditions. Our specialized equipment is ideal for the coastal environment. Our experience includes living-shoreline techniques, and we work with a number of different stabilization materials and manufactured shoreline products.

Our shoreline-related capabilities include:

  • Non-structural projects (low energy environments), such as the installation of coir logs, beach replenishment, or marsh creation
  • Hybrid projects (medium energy environments), such as marsh creation in combination with the installation of stone groins or sills, beach replenishment with breakwaters, or marsh creation with edge stabilization or coir fiber log reinforcement
  • Structural projects (high energy environments), such as the installation of stone structures, bulk heads, revetments, or stone reinforcement
