VA NEWS: Angler has been awarded a contract to survey portions of the Marine Corps Base at Quantico, Virginia for the presence of the small whorled pogonia (Isotria medeoloides), a federally-listed threatened orchid species. This work is necessary to help implement the base’s Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan to manage forest resources and protect threatened and endangered species. | ||
VA NEWS: AE has been awarded a lake maintenance services contract with the city of Newport News. This contract is an exciting opportunity for us, as it includes both consulting and maintenance construction (dredging) of ponds and lakes in the city. |

N.VA NEWS: Royal Lake Spillway Renovation Project, Fairfax, VA. On Saturday, September 6th, Tropical Storm Hanna caused flooding over the spillway of Royal Lake for the first time since it was designed in the mid-1970s. Unfortunately, this occurred while construction to renovate the spillway was underway by AE. Working with Fairfax County Public Works, Fire and Rescue, and the Police Department, AE made necessary grade changes during this flood event (and in the actual flood waters), to redirect flow away from the toe of the dam, averting what could have been a complete undermining of the dam itself. | VA BID AWARDED: Poplar Springs Court Stream Restoration: AE provided the low bid on this highly competitive restoration project by an extremely small margin. Located in Burke, VA, the project seeks to restore 600 LF of stream channel at a cost of $189k. |
| VA BID AWARDED: The Hungry Mother State Park Dredging Project will be our second project conducted for the Department of Conservation and Recreation. It entails constructing two sediment disposal areas and the mechanical dredging of approximately 22,000 CY of material. The job was awarded at a cost of $842k. | ||
| N.VA NEWS: After passing a rigorous proof of qualifications, AE has been given (and has begun) the construction work for the new Biological Treatment Units at Dulles Airport. Resembling rain gardens in make-up and function, these “BTUs” were designed by CH2M Hill and compile 4 acres of area for the mitigation of glycol-containing runoff from de-icing operations. This project is now our largest of the bio-treatment related construction projects. | ![]() |

| NC BID AWARDED: Construction for the Little Troublesome Stream Restoration project was recently awarded to AE. Located in Rockingham County, NC, the project entails approximately 2,200 linear feet of channel restoration with 2 acres of wetland enhancements. | ||
| MD BID AWARDED: AE has been awarded a large dam repair and rehabilitation project located at St. Mary's River State Park in St. Mary’s County, MD for the MD Dept. of General Services. | ||
| NC NEWS: Construction will soon start on the Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge for a Parallel Dike Rehabilitation Project. The project marks the official beginning to our NC construction work, and is our second for the US Fish and Wildlife Service! | ||

| MD BID AWARDED: Sponsored by the Maryland Eastern Shore RC&D Council, stabilization of one section of the Marshy Hope Creek Shoreline in Caroline County was completed by Angler in 2006. This continuation project will provide much needed restoration to more of the banks along this tidal waterway. |
| NC NEWS: Angler has been pre-qualified to bid the construction for two large, upcoming stream restoration contracts for the State's Ecosystem Enhancement Program. |
| VA BID AWARDED: Seven firms sought this spillway rehabilitation project for Royal Lake, located in Fairfax County. Angler provided the lowest bid by just 3% of the total project cost. The project entails a number of improvements associated with the large spillway. Construction is slated for this Spring. |
| NC NEWS: Angler recently added NC’s General Highway Contractor’s License to our previous Grading/Excavating License, enabling us to handle bigger ecological construction jobs, especially those of stream restoration. |
